Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
